Physics MDCAT tips & tricks by Dr. Hammad Naveed

Acha bacho there's one very important thing that you all need to understand.

I'd talk about physics in particular.

There's a huge difference between a fresher and a repeater.

That is due to a major factor, that strategy used in MDCAT is different from strategy used for FSc exams.

FSc exams mein you required a proper method for an answer. And in MDCAT you can use any method, as long as the answer is right.

Phir FSc mein, you had a specific set of numericals, apart from those apko sawal nhi aata tha.

In MDCAT, you can get any sort of MCQ from either within or without the textbook.

Upar se you guys have the most minimal interest in physics specially, as it contains alot of maths aur medical students ki maths se jaan jati hai.

So as a result, freshers are always confused about why things are not going right or why they can't solve MCQs correctly.

Now coming towards the solution:

1) Always focus initially on basic concepts. If they are clear, well n good. If not, you need to clear them at the earliest.

2) My personal advice is, do not go for shortcuts. Aaj aik student ne mujhe numerical send kiya and she had a formula, which she noted from a very famous academy.

Ab dekhein apki book mein let's say for instance agar 100 formulae hain, to shortcuts ke baad wo 500 formulae ban jayen ge. So why go through all of that? Percentage decrease ka alag formula, percentage increase ka alag formula, momentum ka alag, KE ka alag, then average velocity ke koi 10 formulas hain. Just prefer the bookish method.

No doubt it is lengthy, but you can ace it in days. After enough practice, you'd be able to solve the numericals with bookish method within seconds. Mera personal experience hai. Still some of you can disagree.

3) Don't blindly follow everybody. Apke group ke instructors, ya even baqi mbbs students ko dekh ke especially freshers, aur boht hadd tak repeaters sochte hain ke he's done it, so we should follow him. There's a big NO!

I personally had such an experience, where students literally asked even that what I used to eat for breakfast during my MDCAT journey.

Most common example is students asking for a timetable or a schedule.

Dekhein everybody is called an "individual" for a reason. He/she has his/her own set of abilities. If a student can do a topic in 5 minutes, maybe another would do the same topic in 50 minutes.

And it's just a myth ke timetable and schedule is necessary. Even notes are not necessary if I talk about myself. You can ask sir Noman Amjad, he's my class fellow. I never make notes coz it's not in my aptitude. While he always makes notes.

So listen to yourself and make your own schedule. Study freely.

Do a chapter thoroughly, and then practice it's mcqs

One more advice:

Never get disheartened. If you make a mistake, there can be two perspectives:

1) Oh yar mcq phir ghalat hogya, idk why it's happening to me itni practice ke baad bhi

2) Chalo ab ye ghalat hua hai, let's see my mistake and I'd avoid making mistake in this or related mcqs

Now you have to decide which strategy to follow.

Along with that, I'd share all necessary info that I think would be necessary for you.

Apart from that koi confusion ho, regarding anything, you can freely mention me or even reach me out personally if you are not comfortable in front of everybody.
